Delegates from Engineering and Architecture Higher Education institutions in the region met at Saint Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya for the first Engineering and Architecture (E&A) Regional Cluster Meeting for calendar year 2009-2010 on May 18, 2009. It was a whole day seminar-workshop on the unification of the different Engineering and Architecture curricular as regards to CHED Memorandum Order No. 25 Series of 2008 issued by the Commission on Higher Education. Deans, department heads/chairs and representatives composed the list of participants. They were presented by Dr. Araceli V. Domagas, E&A Regional Cluster Secretary and welcomed by Dr. Nena P. Valdez, Vice president for Academic Affairs, SMU. The Regional Cluster CHED Supervisor, Dr. Nestor R. Calvan delivered a message. Afterwhich, representatives from each program proceeded to the presentation of sample revised curricular programs.

The presentation was done per program showing the CHED minimum requirement against the revised versions. It has been noted that the unification must be based on the subject description and number of units, both considering lecture and laboratory.

Dr. Teodora Tesani of USLT showed their curricular matrix while Engr. Myrna Grospe, Arch. Bobby Argote, Engr. Jojo Mariano, Engr. Teofilo Sagabaen, Engr. Joel Pinaroc and Engr. Carina Mallillin presented the SMU Engineering and Architecture curricular programs.

The presentation was followed by a workshop wherein representatives from different schools clustered by program to do the unification process as regards to the Major/Professional subjects. The participants were provided with a copy of the CMO as their reference in doing the workshop. Furthermore, the issues on ladderization will be taken during the succeeding meetings. Dr. Calvan and some cluster officers facilitated while the workshop went on.
